Wilkommen! Bienvenidos!
To all my friends who I invite to see this I just have one thing to say. You know me already, but this is way more intense than Facebook or Myspace. It is even more revealing than all the stories I tell in person. You know my statement about me being all 'smoke & mirrors'? Well, it is all true. I am just a show. A self-created entity. I think I don't even know what I am all about myself. This blog might help me figure that out. Hmm, if I figure out what I am about then maybe I won't need the blog anymore. Is this a self-defeating endeavour?
There is a line in Romeo & Juliet that Friar Laurence says that I think will portend this blog. Crap, I think I just caught a glimpse of the future. Anyway, here is the text from R & J.
Act II, Scene 6 -Friar Laurence's Cell- Line 1467
These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which as they kiss consume: the sweetest honey
Is loathesome in his own deliciousness
And in the taste confounds the appetite:
Like a lot of some of the many few things I do I jump right into it and then one day don't think about it; Oops, it is dead to me. Pretty sad, huh?
Ok, well before this blog dies from neglect and ennui I will mention some of the stuff that made me want to start it in the first place.
What is up with UA allowing firearms on campus? So what if a background check is needed? Anyone can pass that. Even a third-rate actor such as myself can appear sane enough to fool the government servants who administer the check.
A few years ago some crazy F-er shot some nursing teachers. In a lecture hall setting the teacher was shot in front of all her students. My cousin was in that class. It is not something that she will ever forget. Now that firearms are allowed on campus that just removes any trepidation some lunatic might have about bringing a deadly weapon to school. In the past any gunslinger might have thought twice about it, now that first roadblock is gone. Oh please, just because the rule states that the gun must stay in the car does not mean they will stay there. People may become so comfortable with having it on their person that it will become the same as a cell phone. An easily forgotten accoutrement that make the cowboy what he is. Ugh, it just infuriates me that some dumb legislators thought this would be a worthwhile expenditure of their time and energy. How about getting funding for education back so we can teach our future leaders that guns are not needed to solve problems?
On a lighter note, I am starting to narrow down my selection of Halloween costumes. In the running are a "Count von Count" costume or "Link" from The Legend of Zelda. Budget and ease of enjoying the Halloween party are the two most important factors. I have not yet visited Spirit or Halloween Express though. Who knows where my mind will wander once I step foot in there.
Now that the October issues of magazine are arriving I can finally stop my mind from swirling from all the September issues onslaught. September issues are the fashion issues where the following Spring's fashions are unveiled. Oh, I really want some Dsquared outfits and I wish I had the body for some Emporio Armani pieces. I would hit on my own self if that were the case.
Speaking of having a body: I made a bid on a silent auction item and I won. Two free personal training sessions and a month membership at Better Bodies. What an awesome place it is. I went there in the Spring of '06 and absolutely loved it. Pricey for sure. Results guaranteed! I just got the paperwork today so now I have to call them to set-up the times. I am a bit nervous about it because I have been there before. I remember being so damn sore that I could hardly move. Oh well, it seems I have bid off more than I can chew. Ha ha.
Bye y'all.
Addendum: I forgot to add the names of some links I saw today that I thought were interesting.
